Body Shifter is an innovative spectral processing plugin that measures the Body of your audio and allows you to shift it independently from its pitch. This allows you to quickly reposition the energy distribution of frequencies, making it a very useful tool for mixing and sound design. Whether you're shifting the body of percussion/drums to a different position in the frequency spectrum, reshaping vocals, enhancing low-end or altering instrument character, Body Shifter offers an intuitive and entirely new way to sculpt your sounds effortlessly.
Main Features:
● SCALE: Adjusts the global frequency scaling of the body in octaves. A value of 1 doubles the body’s frequencies, while -1 halves it.
● OFFSET: Shifts the frequency spectrum of the body in Hz.
● WIDTH: Introduces slight variations in scaling between the left and right stereo channels to enhance stereo separation.
● MIX: Blends between the processed and original (dry) signal.
● OUTPUT: Adjusts the final gain of the processed signal (-/+ 18dB).
● VIEW: Allows customization of what is displayed in the spectrum analyzer.
Traditionally, placing an element's tonality perfectly in a mix meant making static EQ or multiband saturation adjustments that didn’t adapt as the sound evolved. Body Shifter, analyzes the body of your audio in real-time and allows you to shift it with a simple turn of a knob, effortlessly emphasizing certain frequencies or repositioning the body of an element somewhere else within the frequency spectrum.

How is this different from any Frequency Shifter?
A frequency shifter adds a fixed frequency offset to all components of the signal, breaking harmonic relationships and creating inharmonic or metallic sounds. Body Shifter measures the energy distribution and allows you to scale/shift it and will reapply it to your sound, this keeps the harmonic relationships intact.
How is this different from any Formant Shifter?
Body Shifter takes a different approach. Instead of relying on traditional cepstral or LPC-based spectral envelope estimation, it uses an adaptive spectral envelope extraction method involving weighted histogram analysis.
This allows Body Shifter to scale and offset the overall spectral body of a sound while retaining fine spectral detail and transient character. The approach works particularly well on material such as drums, bass-heavy sounds, complex synths and other signals that aren’t necessarily speech-like.
The result is less about shifting a few identifiable formants and more about reshaping the perceived “body” of the entire sound, hence the name Body Shifter.
Why this would be preferrable to carving frequencies to fit two tracks together...
Using Body Shifter you are literally displacing the energy distribution of the frequency spectrum dynamically through time. So every moment in time, the sound is analyzed and a new 'different' energy distribution is applied to your sound over time. This is very very different than just making a static bell dip in element(B) of your track to give room to element(A) or even spectral ducking that does this dynamically over time to element(B) to give room to element(A).
Body Shifter on the other hand allows you to shift the body of element(A) itself, to a position in the frequency spectrum where it sounds the most pleasing, or where one intends the sound to be felt. This is a totally new way of working with sound, which is why we're so proud of Body Shifter!
Making music is an intuitive process where for example struggling to find a fitting kick in your kick pack is a massic hinder! Just carving space somewhere else wont fix the kick so you keep looking for a better one. In this case, Body Shifter allows you to shift your kick's body to a position where you intuitivly expect it to be, keeping you from waisting time to find one in your kick pack.
